Ten Hag still has faith in Martial despite injuries that have plagued him throughout the season.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains confident in Anthony Martial. Despite injuries that have posed a stumbling block for the French forward this season.
Martial has missed more than half of the team’s appearances this season. And will be out of rights again. When the Red Devils will open their home against Leeds United on Wednesday night.
Earlier, Martial returned to action and scored in last week’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest.
But the latest Frenchman spearhead hurts the hip area. That left him out of the squad for Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace and Ten Hag has admitted he sympathizes with the 27-year-old’s further fitness hurdles.
“He’s not always ready. But I saw the other side when he got back on the pitch,” said Ten Hag.
“He’s never been 100 percent fit this season. But he has a huge impact every time he plays. Even if it’s only 80, 85, 90 percent fit. So we are full and Anthony Martial is full.”
“I think he’s a player who has spent the most hours in Carrington this season, recovering, getting back fit. It’s really a pity for him that he’s disappointed.”
“He was not always ready to play. And we always want him to be available. Because that will help improve our game. And because a routine can’t become a routine when you’re not always available on the pitch.
